Providing Security Through Blankets

Volunteers, also known as blanketeers, create and donate new, handmade blankets for children in crisis situations in Williamson, Travis, Bastrop and Hays Counties. Since 2005, Central Texas Project Linus volunteers have donated over 34,000 'blankie hugs' to children in crisis.
Central Texas Project Linus
at a Glance

Project Linus is a national (U.S.) 501(c)3 non-profit volunteer organization whose members provide love, a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need, through their gifts of new, handmade blankets. Most children receive a Project Linus blanket through the local chapter fulfilling requests from local hospitals, shelters, police, or other agencies, but individual requests are filled too.

Blanketeers of all ages lovingly make new blankets by knitting, crocheting, quilting and cutting (no-sew) fleece blankets. These blankets come from volunteers' hearts, and so become tangible gifts of comfort for children going through difficult times.
Project Linus Mission

Project Linus is comprised of hundreds of local chapters and thousands of volunteers across the United States. Each volunteer and local chapter all work together to help us achieve our mission statement, which states:

First, it is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”
Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.
The best kind of sleep under heaven above, is under a blanket handmade with love...
